Wallpaper packs — Making Fractal Wallpapers

A degree-three Julia set in burnt orange and cobalt blue: a branching band of dark rust filigree, fanned with pale orange and curling into spirals at its edges, across a deep blue ground streaked with fine light threads.

These are the finished wallpapers: 2560×1440 JPEGs, zipped by gallery. Every one was found and rendered with the search and rendering methods this site describes. They're free to use under CC BY 4.0. If you share them, credit Matt Fisher.

If you want a different size, open any picture in the Mandelnaut Explorer and download it at the resolution you need, or render it yourself with the code in fractal-wallpapers.

The best of the main gallery

A few friends voted on the main gallery, and these are the pictures they liked most. Each pack contains the one before it.

The main gallery

A thousand diverse fractal wallpapers, made with the method described in Full pipeline.

The deep gallery

Most of this work focuses on finding wallpapers in the shallow parts of the Mandelbrot set, but as deep zoom rendering shows, shallow wallpapers can be used to find excellent deep locations. Here are 28 deep wallpapers I picked by hand, many found with the random dives described in Random dives.

Color galleries

Each of these is its own gallery, chosen for one family of colors.
